MESSAGING

SOCIAL MEDIA AND NEWSLETTER MESSAGING

Let’s come together this DO GOOD Week, April 18-24, to remind our Charlotte neighbors that as volunteers they are critical to the success of our nonprofit community.

DO GOOD Week is an opportunity to raise awareness of needs, both urgent and constant, and inspire neighbors to find opportunities they are passionate about to help make a collective impact on our local nonprofit community. Included in the following pages are samples of social media posts (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) and email content you can use as-is, or as inspiration to write your own.

We have provided suggested posts that allow for a more personalized message about your specific volunteer needs as well as posts with more general messaging about DO GOOD Week as it is our belief that “a rising tide lifts all boats”.

  • Storytelling Tips

Telling your story is essential. Here are some tips on sharing your narrative.

Create A Compelling Story

Follow these tips to tell your story

  • Tip #1

    Statistics

Statistics or metrics around impact of volunteerism on your organization can be powerful – if you have them, use them! Include how are you being impacted today, with volunteers being asked to stay at home.

  • Tip #2

    Explain The Impact

Explain how someone who signs up for your volunteer opportunity(s) help advance your mission.

  • Tip #3

    Create Goals

Consider creating a goal for DGW (i.e. 50 gift baskets assembled, 100 cards written, 45 phone calls made) and create a story around reaching it. People love helping others reach a tangible goal.

  • Tip #4

    Show The Action

Create visual content – capture with your cell phone! Find someone who can film themselves/take photos while doing your activity from home, and use that in your promotion. This can even be a staff or board members.
